Five hurt in BCL infighting at CU

At least five activists of Chhatra League were injured when two compartment-based BCL groups of the Chittagong University shuttle train clashed on the campus yesterday.
The groups, CFC, led by CU BCL vice president Sadaf Khan, and Sixty-Nine, led by CU BCL general secretary Iqbal Hossain Tipu, locked in clashes in front of Shah Jalal Hall, said witnesses.
Sadaf told reporters, "An activist of Sixty-Nine attacked an activist of our group over a trifle matter. Then, a clash broke out between the two sides. The accused earlier beat up a leader of our group."
Tipu said, "We are trying to solve this matter."
Contacted, Assistant Proctor Aruf Barua said, "We've called a meeting with senior leaders from both the groups regarding the incident," he added.
Additional police have been deployed on the campus to avoid further violence.
