Fifth-grader raped in Noakhali

A fifth-grader was raped by a 45-year-old man in a village of Noakhali's Senbag yesterday afternoon, police said, quoting her mother. 

The woman filed a written complaint against the prime accused Mohammad Jahir and another man over the matter with Senbag Police Station last night, said Imdadul Haque, inspector of the police station.  

In the complaint, the woman said the incident happened when the girl was returning home from school. As she was walking on a secluded road in Bhir Narayan village, Jahir gagged and forcibly took her to a nearby shop where he raped her. 

After Jahir released the girl, she screamed for help. She was then rescued by locals, but Jahir had already fled, she said.

Jahir was absconding. Police were trying to arrest him, said the inspector.
