Fifth-grader raped

Police yesterday arrested a man in connection with a case for raping his fifth-grader niece in Bagmara upazila of Rajshahi, while a ruling party leader was expelled from his party post after he was arrested on rape charge in Habiganj's Lakhai upazila, report our correspendents.

On August 28, the arrestee, Abul Fazal, 50, lured the minor girl with chocolate, took her to a nearby mango orchard and raped her, police said.

Later, father of the victim filed a rape case against Fazal with the police station when the girl disclosed the matter to her parents, the OC added.

Meanwhile, away in Habiganj, Solaiman Rony, joint-convenor of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) Lakhai upazila unit, was expelled yesterday from his party post following his arrested in connection with a case for gang-raping a bride in Tikkapur Haor on Friday.
