Ex-ward councillor dies after being stabbed in Mymensingh
A former councillor of Phulbaria municipality in Mymensingh died of his injuries early today, five days after his neighbour stabbed him.
Anisur Rahman Anis, 50, was also the joint convener of BNP's Phulbaria municipality unit.
Quoting family sources, Phulbaria Police Station Officer-in-charge Shah Kamal Akanda said Anisur used to live in Mymensingh city's Natokghar Lane.
He used to store construction materials on the land of his neighbour Lelin Mia. For this, Anisur also paid money to Lelin on different occasions. However, there was a dispute regarding this between the two.
On March 26, when Anis was going to a local mosque for Asr prayers around 5:00pm, Lelin allegedly intercepted him and demanded more money.
As Anis denied, there was an altercation and at one stage, Lelin stabbed him indiscriminately, the OC said.
He was admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital the same day.
His wife Bakul Rahman lodged a case with the local police station accusing Lelin on March 28.
Police arrested the accused on the same day and a local court sent him to jail.
