Ex-cop, jail superintendent sued for corruption
The Anti-Corruption Commission sued a former police officer and a senior jail superintendent in two districts today, for accumulating wealth beyond their known sources of income.
In Chattogram, the ACC filed a case against Md Shah Alam, 59, former DIO at the office of superintendent of police in Chattogram.
According to the case, Shah Alam, in his wealth statements, concealed the information of over Tk 10.74 lakh.
Meanwhile, ACC sued Md Shajahan Ahmed, a former senior jail superintendent in Cumilla; and his wife Khandaker Nurun Nahar Lotus for amassing illegal wealth worth over Tk 2.21 crore.
According to case, the couple has a flat in Malibagh, a house and 10 decimals of land in Tangail, a 3.5 katha plot at Joar Shahara, an SUV, and a huge amount of money in several bank accounts.
The case mentions that the money was earned illegally when Shajahan was posted at Cumilla Central Jail from 1999 to 2022.
