Evaly CEO, chairman placed on 3-day remand

A Dhaka court today placed Evaly CEO Mohammad Rassel and his wife, also the chairman Shamima Nasrin on a three-day remand each in a case filed for embezzlement of money.
The court of Dhaka's Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Atiqul Islam passed the order this afternoon, our court correspondent reports.
The order came after police produced Rassel and Shamima, also the chairman of the controversial e-commerce site, around 2:00pm today with a 10-day remand prayer.
Gulshan Police Station's Sub-Inspector Md Ohidul Islam, also investigation officer of the case, submitted the petition.
Yesterday Rab arrested them on charges of embezzlement as thousands of consumers expressed worry if they would get their money or products they had paid for.
The arrests happened hours after Arif Baker, an aggrieved consumer, accused Rassel, Nasrin and several unnamed individuals involved in the company's finance management of embezzlement in a case filed with Gulshan Police Station.
