Decision of Murad’s parliament seat falls on the Speaker: HC

The High Court today refused to pass any order on a writ petition challenging the legality of Murad Hassan's parliamentary membership, observing that it was the responsibility of the Jatiya Sangsad Speaker.
Any person aggrieved can appeal to the parliament's speaker, challenging the JS membership of Murad Hassan, and the writ petition is premature at this stage, said the bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman.
The bench kept the petition "stand over" (waiting for hearing).
Supreme Court lawyer Md Eunus Ali Akond submitted the petition as a public interest litigation to the HC on December 8, a day after Murad resigned from the post of state minister for information and broadcasting.
The prime minister asked Murad to resign from his post of state minister following a wave of criticism for his profoundly misogynist and offensive remarks.
Eunus said in the petition that Murad violated his oath as a member of parliament by making the remarks and pleaded with the HC to pass necessary directives for conducting a judicial inquiry into Murad's obscene comments.
