Cricketer Nasir, wife Tamima secure bail
A Dhaka court today granted bail to national cricketer Nasir Hossain and his wife Tamima Sultana in a case filed over adultery and defamation.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Jashim passed the order after Nasir and Tamima surrendered to the court, seeking bail in the case, Helal Uddin, bench assistant of the court, told The Daily Star.
The magistrate also granted bail to Tamima's mother Sumi Akter in the same case after she also surrendered to the court and sought bail.
On September 30, the same magistrate asked Nasir, Tamima and Sumi to appear before the court by today (October 31), after accepting the probe report of the case.
Earlier on the same day, Investigation Officer Sheikh Md Mizanur Rahman, also an inspector of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), submitted a probe report to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court of Dhaka, terming the marriage of Nasir and Tamima "illegal".
On February 24, Md Rakib Hasan, Tamima's ex-husband, filed the case with the court.
According to the case documents, Tamima tied the knot with Nasir without divorcing the complainant.
