Cop sued for throwing acid on siblings in Cox’s Bazar
A case has been filed against a police constable on charge of throwing acid on two brothers in Ramu of Cox's Bazar district, five days after the incident happened.
The accused Nikhil Barua is currently working in the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at Ramu Police Station, reports our Cox's Bazar correspondent quoting police.
Anwarul Hossain, officer-in-charge of Ramu Police Station said the statement filed in this incident on last Saturday has been registered as a case.
Police are looking forward to arrest Nikhil Barua, the OC said.
There are also three or four more unidentified accused in the case.
Last Saturday (October 29), the statement was filed under the Acid Control Act at Ramu Police Station by Prakrita Barua, mother of victims Tipu Barua and Deepak Barua.
According to the case statement, Tipu closed his motor servicing shop at Ramu Choumuhani area and set for home along with his brother Deepak on Tuesday, October 24 night. When they reached in front of Victor Plaza, five or six unidentified men came in a CNG-run autorickshaw and threw acid on them.
Earlier last month, the two brothers were also being seriously stabbed. The main accused, policeman Nikhil Barua, is the brother-in-law of the victims.
When contacted, Nikhil claimed that the case filed against him is fabricated and a result of enmity.
He demanded a fair investigation into the case.
