College student stabbed to death in Brahmanbaria
A college student was allegedly stabbed to death in Sultanpur under Brahmanbaria Sadar upazila last night. Four others were also injured.
The deceased was identified as Sheikh Akash (20), son of Sheikh Humayun. Akash was a resident of Uttarpara area and a first-year student of Chinair Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Honours College, reports our local correspondent.
Four other injured, of the same village, are Arman (20), Masum (17), Fayez (16), and Rakib (14).
Eyewitnesses said Sheikh Rifat (22), of the same village, had an altercation with Akash in front of a kindergarten school in the southern part of the village yesterday afternoon.
The matter was then settled by the locals, who asked them to return home. However, Rifat stabbed Akash and the others in front of Sultanpur High School at 7:30pm.
They were rescued and taken to Brahmanbaria General Hospital by locals. Akash had multiple stab injuries in his head and chest, according to on-duty doctor Abdullah Al Mamun at the emergency department. He died on the way to the hospital.
When contacted, Officer-in-Charge (OC), Emranul Islam, of Brahmanbaria Sadar Model Police Station, said that a murder case has been filed in this regard.
Police are trying to arrest Rifat, he added.
