CID arrests Islamic speaker for instigating attack on Hindu temples
Criminal Investigation Department of police arrested an Islamic speaker from Dhaka's South Keraniganj area on charge of hate speech following the Cumilla incident on October 13.
A team of Cyber Monitoring Cell arrested Abdur Rahim Biplobi (39), during a raid in Chunkuthia area around 7:30am today, said a press release sent by CID Additional SP Azad Rahman.
During primary interrogation, Biplobi admitted to instigating people with his speech during a programme following the Cumilla incident.
In his speech, he called for arrest of those involved in placing Quran at Cumilla Puja Mandap by October 15, threatening otherwise to hold a tough demo after Juma prayers and destroy Hindu temples, it added.
A case was filed with Paltan Police Station under Digital Security Act in this regard.
