A 16-year-old boy was stabbed to death allegedly by his neighbour in Chandpur Sadar last evening following an argument over the Argentina-Mexico match in Qatar World Cup.
Mehedi Hasan of South Nanupur village was stabbed near his house around 7:00pm yesterday, said police.
Locals rushed him to Chandpur Government General Hospital where doctors declared him dead, the law enforcers added.
"He had three stab marks in his chest," said Omar Faruq, duty doctor of the hospital.
Meanwhile, police detained the prime suspect, Barkat, 20, and seized the knife used in the murder, said A Rashid, officer-in-charge of Chandpur Sadar Police Station.
The victim's father Helal Bepari said his son was beaten by Barkat on Sunday night following an argument while watching the match Sunday night. "Barkat called Mehedi again yesterday and severely stabbed him," he added,
