Cattle theft in Dhamrai: Female BCL leader, 3 others land in jail
A Dhaka court today (November 3, 2022) sent Dhaka District North unit of Chhatra League's Student Affairs Secretary Babli Akhter and three others to jail in a case filed over cattle theft in Dhamrai.
Dhaka Senior Judicial Magistrate Kazi Ashrafuzzaman passed the order after police produced them before the court today, our Savar correspondent reports quoting Additional Public Prosecutor Anwarul Kabir Babul.
Three other accused are Arif, 22, Raju Ahmed, 24, and Shahadat, 24.
Babli Akhter was arrested from Nayabari in the Savar municipality area early yesterday while three others were arrested from various areas of Savar and Dhamrai.
Several incidents of cattle theft took place at different times in Dhamrai and several cases were filed, Dhamrai Police Station Officer-in-Charge Atiqur Rahman told The Daily Star yesterday.
During the investigation of the cases, it was found that Babli used to keep the cows in her custody and sell those, the OC had said.
Yesterday, the BCL relieved Babli Akhter from her party's duty.
Abdul Latif, cattle farm owner of Larua-kundu area under Kulla union in Dhamrai, filed the case accusing some unnamed people with Dhamrai Police Station on October 30 after two cattle were stolen from his farm on October 29.
Yesterday, 25-year-old Habul was sent to jail in the case. With him, total five accused were arrested in the case.
