Case filed over sexual harassment, assault of 2 students on CU campus

A case was filed today (July 20) with Hathazari Model Police Station in connection with the sexual harassment and physical assault of two students of Chittagong University on Sunday.

One of the victims filed the case under Women and Children Repression Prevention Act this afternoon against several unnamed accused, our Chattogram correspondent reports quoting Ruhul Amin, officer-in-charge of the station.

Around 9:30pm on Sunday, the two were on their way to the dormitory at the CU campus when five unidentified youths accosted them and forced them into the Botanical Garden area, the OC said citing the case statement.

There, the accused tried to rape one of them, assaulted them physically, and tried to record a video to release it on the internet, the case statement added.

"We have started investigation into the incident. We hope to identify the culprits and arrest them soon," OC Ruhul Amin added.
