Campaigning for Evaly: Tahsan gets bail for 6 weeks in fraud case
The High Court today granted anticipatory bail for six weeks to musician and actor Tahsan Khan in a case filed against him and others over fraud -- for their involvement with e-commerce platform Evaly.
The HC bench of Justice Sheikh Md Zakir Hossain and Justice Khizir Hayat passed the order after Tahsan filed petition seeking bail in the case. The accused appeared before the HC bench during hearing of his petition.
Tahsan's lawyer Sanjida Khanam today told the HC that her client has no involvement in any fraudulence of Evaly as he resigned from the company much before the case was filed.
Earlier on December 13 last year, another HC bench granted anticipatory bail for eight weeks to actors Rafiath Rashid Mithila and Sabnam Faria in the same case.
On December 4 same year, an aggrieved customer of Evaly -- Saad Sam Rahman -- filed the case with Dhanmondi Police Station against nine people including Evaly CEO Mohammad Rassel, Chairman Shamima Nasrin, musician Tahsan, and actors Mithila and Faria.
According to the case, celebrities Tahsan, Mithila and Faria were in different positions at Evaly. Because of their presence and their various promotional talks, plaintiff Saad Sam invested Tk 3,18,000 in Evaly.
The plaintiff alleged that he was deceived because of the promotional talks of the celebrities.
Tahsan was the Goodwill Ambassador of Evaly, and Mithila was associated with Evaly as the face of the company's lifestyle products. Faria joined as Chief Public Relations Officer.
