Bullet-hit Bogura Swechchasebak league leader dies at hospital
A Swechchasebak league, who suffered bullet injures in an attack by a rival on January 2, died at the Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical Hospital in Bogura last night.
Nazmul Hasan Orange (28), the literature and cultural affairs secretary of Bogura unit of Swechhasebak League, succumbed to his injuries at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital around 11 pm, said Samim Hossain, sub-inspector of the hospital police outpost, report our local correspondent.
"Nazmul was on life support for the last 8 days," said the SI.
According to police, Nazmul and another Swechchhasebak League leader Apel were conversing with their friends at the Dabtola area of the Sadar upazila on the night of January 2.
A group of six, loyal to former Swechchhasebak League leader Russell Ahmed, appeared at the scene and opened fire targeting Nazmul and Apel and fled the scene.
Locals rescued them and sent them to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital where Nazmul died last night, said police.
The attack was carried out over establishing supremacy in the area.
Nazmul's wife Sornali Akter filed a case accusing Russell, six other named and 4-5 unnamed people.
Last night, Selim Reza, officer-in-charge of Bogura Sadar Police Station, said they have arrested one accused and sent him to jail through court.
"We are trying to arrest the key accused in the case," the OC said.
