Boy abducted, killed for Tk 3 lakh ransom

A 13-year-old madrasa student has been killed after his family failed to pay Tk 3 lakh ransom to kidnappers in Barguna's Patharghata.
Police found the body of the victim Hasib in a plastic drum on the bank of Bishkhali river in South Bainchotki area yesterday night.
Seven persons were arrested in this connection, including the suspected mastermind Abdullah Al Noman, 19, of Badurtala village in Patharghata. He is a member of a local juvenile gang, said police.
The other arrestees are Noman's wife Tahira, 19, brother-in-law Rahim Munshi, 25, father-in-law Yunus, 65, mother-in-law Rahima, 55, sister-in-law Tanjila, 23, and nephew Jasim, 30.
The deceased Hasib is the son of Shafiqul Islam of Dakshin Patharghata village.
Hasib was abducted on the night of October 20 when he went to visit a puja mandap. The kidnappers sent a video of torturing him to the family and demanded Tk 3 lakh as ransom, said Patharghata Police Officer-in-Charge Shah Alam Howladar.
The next day, Hasib's father filed a general diary with the police station.
During primary interrogation, the main accused Noman confessed to killing Hasib with the help of his family members, said the OC.
