Body of girl missing for 2 days recovered in Gazipur

Police today recovered the body of a teenage girl, who went missing two days before, from a waterbody in Kaliganj of Gazipur. 

The deceased was identified as Priyanka Koraish (13), daughter of Shankar Koraish of Bagdi Purbapara area of Kaliganj and a student of fourth grade, our Gazipur correspondent reports quoting police. 

"Priyanka went missing on Friday afternoon. This noon her body was found floating in a waterbody near her residence. Law enforcers from Ulukhola Police Camp were informed," said Barek Molla, a member of Nagri Union Parishad. 

Confirming the matter, Jakir Hossain, sub-inspector and in-charge of the police camp, told this correspondent that police recovered the body around 2:00pm.

"The deceased's father identified the body," SI Jakir said, adding that, "The girl used to live at a relative's house in Manikganj and studied in a school there. She returned to her family as her school is closed due to pandemic".

"The body has a number of wound marks. We are primarily suspecting that assailants murdered her and then dumped the body," the official said. 

"The body has been sent to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College morgue for autopsy," he added.
