BNP's Dec 10 rally: Case filed against Ishraque, 17 others

Police filed a case against 18 BNP leaders and activists including Ishraque Hossain, the party's foreign affairs committee member and some other unidentified people on charge of assaulting police, blasting crude bombs and vandalism at Jatrabari during the party's December 10 rally.
Sub-Inspector Nowsher Ali filed the case with Jatrabari Police Station yesterday night.
The other named accused include Nabiullah Nabi, BNP Dhaka South unit senior joint convener, Pavel Sikder, BNP's student front Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal vice president and Raisul Hasan, former Dhaka city south unit joint secretary.
According to the case statement the named accused and other unknown BNP-Jamaat activists illegally assembled arms with machetes and sticks and vandalised vehicles in front of Traffic Police Box at Golopbagh intersection. They also blasted crude bombs and threw brick chips to create anarchy at 12:25am on December 11.
The case statement further added that the accused attacked police when they reached the spot and then the accused fled the scene by blasting crude bombs.
The complainant of the case SI Nowsher, in replying to a query about the number of named and unnamed accused said he is outside the police station and could give details after going through case documents.
