Bills to raise judges’ allowance placed

Two bills were placed in parliament yesterday to increase allowances of the chief justice, and judges of Appellate Division and High Court. They are Bangladesh Supreme Court Judges (Remuneration and Privileges) Act and Bangladesh SC Judges (Travelling Allowance) Act.

Law Minister Anisul Huq placed the bills. The SC Judges (Remuneration and Privileges) Act will replace the existing ordinance of 1978. The SC judges (travelling allowance) act will replace an ordinance of 1976.
