Attack on ex-SC judge: Eleven BNP men remanded

A Dhaka court yesterday placed 11 leaders and activists of BNP and its front organisations on a two-day remand each in a case filed over the attack on former Supreme Court Justice AHM Shamsuddin Choudhury Manik on November 2.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Debdash Chandra Adhikary passed the order after Md Forman Ali, a sub-inspector of Detective Branch of police and also the case's investigation officer, produced them before it with a five-day remand prayer for each of them in the case.Justice Manik came under attack during a procession in the capital's Naya Paltan area on November 2 while he passing through the area in his private vehicle.

He alleged that around 30 activists of BNP-Jamaat from the procession encircled his vehicle and then punched and slapped him.

Following the incident, bodyguard Md Rafiqul Islam filed a case against 30-40 unnamed BNP men with Paltan Model Police Station.
