Attack on Bela chief: Police arrest one of six accused
Police today arrested a man for pelting stones at the car of Syeda Rizwana Hasan, chief executive of Bangladesh Environmental Lawyers Association (Bela).
The arrestee was identified as Abu Noman, 41, of Akbar Shah area in the city, reports our Chattogram staff correspondent quoting Wali Uddin Akbar, officer-in-charge (OC) of Akbar Shah Police Station.
Noman was arrested from Bishwa Colony area under Akbar Shah Police Station in Chattogram city this afternoon, he added.
On Thursday, locals including a ward councillor of Chattogram City Corporation harassed a Bela team visiting a site where hills were being razed.
Later that night, Rizwana Hasan filed a case with the police station accusing six people, including the ward councillor and Noman, of restricting them, issuing threats, and pelting her car with stones.
