Arrest warrant issued against SI for rape

A Panchagarh court has issued an arrest warrant against a sub-inspector on charges of raping a widow.

Md Mehedi Hasan, judge of Panchagarh Women and Children Repressions Prevention Tribunal, yesterday issued the order to arrest SI Abdul Jalil of Kurigram Police Station in a case filed by the victim.

According to the case, Jalil was investigating a land dispute case filed by the woman earlier. During the probe, he raped her for months by faking a marriage registry document.
