Arms case against Arav Khan: Court ends recording statements of witnesses
A Dhaka tribunal today completed recording statement of all prosecution witnesses, including the investigation officer of an arms case filed against Rabiul Islam alias Arav Khan.
Judge Murshid Ahammad of Dhaka's Special Tribunal-14 recorded the statement of Investigation Officer Sheikh Hasan Muhammad Mostafa Sarwar, a sub-inspector of Detective Branch of police, before it concluded recording statements of witnesses in the case.
The judge then fixed April 13 for arguments in the case. Earlier, the tribunal recorded statements of nine other witnesses, including the complainant of the case.
Arav Khan is also an accused in a case filed in connection with the murder of a police inspector in 2018.
According to the case statement, Arav Khan went to the residence of his father-in-law Sekendar Ali at Moghbazar on January 28, 2015 to collect money at gunpoint. But Arav Khan was arrested from in front of the house by Ramna police. Police also recovered a revolver from him.
Later, a case was filed against him under the Arms Act with Ramna Police Station.
After an investigation, DB pressed charges against him on March 1 the same year. The tribunal framed charges against him on May 10.
Arav Khan got bail from the higher court on March 14 of 2018 and went into hiding. The tribunal declared him 'fugitive' in the case and issued arrest warrant against him on October 24 the same year.
Arav Khan, who runs a jewellery store in Dubai, is facing an interpol red alert at present.
