Amassing Tk 3.14cr: SC stays HC bail for suspended DIG prisons Bazlur
The Supreme Court chamber judge today stayed till May 29 a High Court order that granted bail to suspended deputy inspector general (DIG) of prisons Bazlur Rashid, who was sentenced to five years' imprisonment in a case filed for amassing Tk 3.14 crore beyond known sources of income.
The SC chamber judge, Justice M Enayetur Rahim, passed the order following a petition filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission seeking stay on the HC bail.
Senior lawyer Khurshid Alam Khan appeared for the ACC while lawyer Shah Monjurul Hoque opposed the ACC petition.
Yesterday, the HC granted bail to Bazlur Rashid till April 30 following an appeal filed by him challenging the trial court verdict.
