AL factional clash: Another succumbs to injuries in Narsingdi
An Awami League activist, injured in a factional clash in Narsingdi's Raipur upazila three weeks ago, succumbed to his injuries this morning.
The deceased was identified as Bachchu Mia, 45, of Gozarial area under Srinagar union of the upazila, reports our Narsingdi correspondent quoting police and local AL leaders.
With the death of Bachchu, the death toll rose to three in two factional clashes between supporters of Srinagar union AL Vice President Abdul Khalek Mia and those of Raipura upazila Jubo League executive member Shah Alam over establishing supremacy.
Bachchu succumbed to his injuries on Friday morning at his house, confirmed Srinagar union Parishad Chairman Riaz Morshed Khan Rasel.
On November 19, one Asgor Ali, supporter of Khalek Mia, died in a factional clash. Meanwhile, on July 13, Mofizuddin, 50, a supporter of AL leader Shah Alam, was killed during a clash over establishing supremacy in the same locality.
Sottojit Kumar Ghush, assistant superintendent of police in Narsingdi, said Shah Alam and Khalek had a long dispute over establishing supremacy.
Injured in a clash between the two groups, Bachchu died today, he said. Shah Alam and Abdul Khalek could not be reached for comments.
