Actor Sohel Chowdhury murder: Accused Ashish denied bail

A Dhaka court today rejected a bail petition of Ashish Roy Chowdhury – an accused in film actor Sohel Chowdhury murder case – in connection with a case filed under Narcotics Control Act.
Metropolitan Magistrate Shanta Akhter passed the order after lawyer of the accused submitted the petition, our court correspondent reports.
Ashish was arrested on April 5 from his Gulshan residence in Dhaka.
During his arrest, Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) seized 17 bottles of foreign alcohol from his residence.
Later, a case was filed against him with Gulshan Police Station under the Narcotics Control Act. He was sent to jail after he was produced before a Dhaka court on April 7, 2022.
On December 18, 1998, Sohel Chowdhury was shot dead by miscreants at Trumps Club in Abedin Tower, in Dhaka's Banani area.
He was yet to be shown arrested in Sohel Chowdhury murder case. The next hearing of the murder case will be held on April 17, police sources said.
