Acid attack carried out on two siblings in Patuakhali
A group of miscreants threw acid on two siblings in Gerakhali village of Patuakhali's Sadar upazila early today.
The injured were identified as Sumaiya (16) and her younger brother Md Ali (12), reports our correspondent quoting police.
Quoting locals, Patuakhali Police Station Officer-in-Charge, Akhter Morshed said, Sumaiya and Ali were sleeping in their house when a group of miscreants broke in and threw acid on them. Locals rushed to the scene and rescued the victims, who were taken to Patuakhali Medical College Hospital.
Later, they were taken to Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital for better treatment as their condition was worsening.
Dr Mirajul Islam, residential medical officer of Patuakhali Medical College Hospital said, as a result of the acid attack, both of their faces and legs have been severely burned.
The victims' parents were not at home at the time of the incident, the police official said quoting Rasel, a cousin of the victims.
Locals believe the incident occurred as a result of a previous feud between the miscreants and the family, said the OC, adding that legal action will be taken in this regard after proper investigation.
