Abrar murder: Prosecution satisfied, defence says verdict not apt
The prosecution expressed satisfaction over the verdict in Buet student Abrar Fahad murder case while defence lawyers claimed that the judgement was not appropriate.
"This incident has traumatised people of Bangladesh. The tribunal today awarded highest punishment to the accused to prevent any recurrence of such brutality," said Chief Public Prosecutor Mosharraf Hossain Kajol.
"We are satisfied with the verdict," Kajol said while talking to reporters on the court premises after the verdict was delivered.
The public prosecutor said they managed to produce 46 witnesses before the court during the court proceeding, he added.
Meanwhile, the defence lawyer expressed dissatisfaction over the verdict and claimed that the judgement was not appropriate.
While talking to reporters on the court premises, defence lawyer Faruk Ahmed said, "Those who were masterminds in the murder were not brought under the trial. We had placed the issue before, during argument. We thought the judge will bring the matter in the judgement but he did not do so."
"We think the judgment was not appropriate. We will appeal to the High Court, challenging the verdict," said Faruk Ahmed.
