8 cops, including Lalbagh OC, sued for beating up man in Dhaka

Five police personnel of Lalbagh Police Staion, including its officer-in-charge, and three other unnamed policemen have been sued for allegedly beating up a man in the capital's Shahidnagar area.

The five named police personnel from Lalbagh station are OC MM Murshed, and sub-inspectors Tarek Nazir, Tarek Aziz, Atoar Hossain, and Krishna Chandra Mitra.

One Billal Hossain yesterday (October 27, 2022) filed the case with the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Farah Diba Sonda, said court sources.

The magistrate took cognizance of the case and recorded the complainant's statement.

She also directed the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to submit a report by November 30 after investigating into the case.

According to the case statement, the accused police personnel in collusion with each other went to the office of Lalbagh Yeasin Cooperative Society in Dhaka's Shahidnagar area to arrest the complainant on October 13 after falsely showing him an accused in two cases.

When the complainant protested the matter, the accused policemen hit him, the case statement added.
