73 sacks of govt rice seized

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab-12) seized 73 sacked of rice, meant for the government's food friendly programme, from Delduar upazila yesterday.

The law enforcers also detained two people for hoarding the rice illegally and selling those in the black market.  Lt Commander Abdullah Al Mamun, commander of Crime Prevention Company-3 of Rab-12, said, acting on a tip-off, they raided a jute warehouse at Silimpur Bazar and seized 73 sacks (each sack containing 30kg) rice meant for the poor from there.

They also arrested Abdul Aziz, 60, of Belta village, and Mohammad Sohel, 28, of Charpara village of Tangail Sadar upazila, from the spot.
