7 arrested with counterfeit medicines from Dhaka
Detectives Branch of Police have arrested seven persons from several areas of Dhaka and recovered various counterfeit medicines of local and foreign brands from them.
The arrestees are Tariqul Islam, Syed Al Mamun, Saidul Islam, Monowar, Abdul Latif, Nazmul Dhali and Sagar Ahmed Milon, said AKM Hafeez Akhter, additional commissioner of Police (DB), during a press briefing at DMP Media Centre today.
Detectives of Lalbagh Division made the arrests during a series of raids in the capital's Kajla, Arambagh and Mitford areas on September 1.
Tariqul Islam and Syed Al Mamun set up a factory to make these counterfeit medicines. Saidul Islam was the main manufacturer while Monwar used to supply Pharmaceutical Aluminum Foil. The counterfeit drugs were marketed by Sagar Ahmed Milon, the police official said.
A large quantity of medicine making machines and empty medicine boxes were also recovered from the arrestees.
