A Gopalganj court yesterday sentenced five people to death for killing a teenager in 2013.

The convicts are Khalid Fakir, Bipul Fakir, Razzak Mollah, Hasan Sheikh and Fasiyar Mollah.

Judge Mohammad Abbas Uddin delivered the verdict in their absentia and also fined them Tk 50,000 each.

According to the prosecution, slain Zahidul Islam, 16, an easy-bike driver of Gohalibaria village in Gopalganj Sadar upazila went missing after Khalid Fakir called him out of his home on September 25, 2013.

Police later recovered Zahidul's body from Dhaka-Khulna highway on October 2.
