4, including recruiting agency owner, arrested for human trafficking: Rab
Rab arrested four alleged human traffickers, including the proprietor of a recruiting agency, who recently sent a woman to a Middle Eastern country and later demanded Tk 4 lakh for return.
A team of Rab-3 arrested them during raids at Ramna and Paltan areas in Dhaka yesterday after the victim's husband complained in this regard, Commander Khandaker Al Moin, Rab's Legal and Media wing director, said.
The arrestees are Md Rubel (40), owner of Efty Overseas Ltd; Mubarak Hossain (33); Abu Taher (35); and Akkas Ali Bepary (40).
Moin said Akkas was acquainted with the victim's husband. He, along with the other arrestees, lured the victim with promises of a job in a Middle Eastern country that would pay Tk 25,000 as monthly salary and sent her there.
Instead, the arrestees sold her there. As the woman was facing torture, she appealed to her husband to save her. The husband complained with the Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training, the Rab official said.
Later, the arrestees threatened the husband with consequences and demanded Tk 4 lakh from the family for her safe repatriation, Rab said.
A case was filed with Paltan Police Station in this regard.
