4 get life in prison for Ruet bus driver murder
A Rajshahi court today sentenced four people to life-term imprisonment in a case filed for killing bus driver Abdus Salam of Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (Ruet) in 2018.
The four convicts are Sohel Rana (35), Nur Nabi (22), Anwar Hossain (21) and Sabbir Hossain (20), said public prosecutor Entajul Haque.
The Judge of Rajshahi Speedy Trial Tribunal Anyp Kumar Roy passed the verdict in presence of the four accused.
The two other accused in the case are being tried at a juvenile court in Rajshahi as they are below 18 years.
Ruet driver Aabdus Salam was hacked to death on the road near Agrani School and College inside the Ruet campus on April 24, 2018.
The public prosecutor said Abdus Salam stood against a group of teenagers, led by Sohel Rana, who used to peddle drugs in the campus.
Later, the killers decided to take his life.
Salam's son Palash filed a murder case, and later police pressed separate charges against the six persons in the case.
