4 arrested over 2 separate murders in Ctg
Members of the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) in separate drives yesterday, arrested four persons in connection with two separate murders in Chattogram's Banshkhali upazila and Akbar Shah area of the port city.
The arrestees are Md Shahidul Islam Kaisar alias Belal (36) Nurul Amin Rony (30) Nurul Amin (27) and Md Shahjahan (36), reports our Chattogram staff correspondent.
"Among the arrestees, Belal and Rony were arrested from different areas of Chattogram city last night in a case filed for killing private car driver Shah Alam in Banshkhali's Pukuria union on October 26," said Nazmul Hasan, PBI Chattogram superintendent of police.
"Besides, Nurul Amin was arrested from Habiganj while Shahjahan from the port city yesterday for killing pickup van driver Sajib (27) at Uttar Kattali in the city on October 27," said the SP.
During the primary interrogation, PBI came to know that victim Shah Alam used to transport smuggled gold bars from Chattogram Airport by his car. "Belal had offered more money to Shah Alam to do the business together, which he declined, hence the murder," said SP Nazmul.
Belal later handed over the victim's car to his friend Rony and asked him to erase evidence of the murder. But Rony, however, crashed the car in Feni on Dhaka-Chattogram Highway while fleeing.
"The pickup van driver Sajib was killed for having extramarital affair with the arrested Nurul Amin's wife Jannat," said PBI Metro Unit SP Naima Sultana.
Nurul with Shahjahan's help strangled Sajib to death there, added the PBI official.
Shahjahan is now in police remand while alleged killer Nurul Amin gave the confessional statement in the court yesterday, added the SP.
