4 arrested for killing easy bike driver, snatching vehicle

The Criminal Investigation Department of police arrested four members of a gang from Sadullapur in Gaibandha on Sunday for killing a battery-run auto-rickshaw driver and getting away with the vehicle last week.

The arrestees are – Miru Mia (24), Laju Mia (24), Sagar Mondol (42), and Belal Chowdhury (40).

After the killing, the arrestees disassembled the vehicle and sold its parts for Tk 30,000, CID special superintendent Mukta Dhar told a press briefing at its headquarters in the capital's Malibagh today.

On February 7, police recovered the dead body of Abdul Majid Mia (60), an easy-bike driver, from Sadullahpur's Ekrampur area.

A day before, two of the arrestees – Miru and Laju – got on the easy bike. As the vehicle reached near Sadullapur bus stand, they compelled the driver to go near an abandoned brick kiln.

They smashed his head with a brick and fled with the vehicle to Bogura, CID officials said.
