37 Bangladeshis return from India after 3 years in prison
Thirty-seven Bangladeshis returned through Benapole check post this afternoon after serving three years in jail in India.
The Bangladeshis include 22 minor boys, 13 minor girls and four women. All the boys and girls are aged around 12-18 years old, reports our Benapole correspondent.
They were arrested in India at different times when human traffickers took them with the promise of giving jobs to them.
Petrapole Immigration Police handed them over to Benapole Immigration Police in the afternoon.
Executive Director of Rights Jashore Binoy Krishna Mallik confirmed the news of their return to Bangladesh.
Benapole Check post Immigration officer-in-charge Ahsan Habib said, the returnees will be handed over to Benapole Port Police Station after completing all formalities.
They will remain in quarantine for 14 days and will then be handed over to their families, the OC added.
