3-month-old becomes collateral damage of neighbours' feud

A three-month-old child was killed during a clash between two neighbours at Mymensingh's Dhobaura upazila yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Ishaq Mia, son of Rahmat Ali Bhuiyan and Shilpi Akhter of the upazila's Sanandakhila village.
Quoting locals and the victim's family members, police said the clash took place between the families of two villagers -- Dulal Miah and Rony Miah, reports our Mymensingh correspondent.
A quarrel broke out first as Rony's cattle were grazing on Dulal's land around 7:00am yesterday.
At one stage, Rony and his wife Rozina started beating Dulal's wife Jayeda.
At one point, one of their neighbours, Shipli, ran to the spot along with her three-month-old to quell the situation.
When Rony and his wife attacked Jayeda with a bamboo stick, it accidentally hit the baby, leaving him critically injured.
The child was first rushed to a local health complex and then referred to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. As his condition deteriorated, he was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where he passed away around 9:30pm.
After the incident, Dulal filed a case against Rony and his wife Rozina.
Later, police arrested Rozina, who was sent to jail after a court order. Officers are trying to arrest Rony, who is on the run, said Tipu Sultan, officer-in-charge (OC) of Dhobaura Police Station.
The body of the child was sent to DMCH morgue for autopsy, the OC added.
