2 sent to jail in connection with rape of 2 women in Manikganj

Two people were sent to jail in connection with two separate rape cases in Manikganj today.

In Harirampur upazila, Bayat Hossain (50) was arrested yesterday night in connection with a rape case, our Manikganj correspondent reports quoting Syed Mizanur Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Harirampur Police Station.

On July 7, the accused Bayat Hossain raped the girl after finding her alone at the house.

Following the incident, the victim's father filed a case with the police facility on Friday under Women and Child Abuse Prevention Act, the OC said, adding that they later arrested the accused.

The accused Bayat confessed to his involvement in the crime and was sent to jail later.

In Saturia upazila, police arrested a man named Rafi last night in connection with a rape case filed with Saturia Police Station yesterday noon by the victim.

Habibur Rahman, officer-in-charge (investigation) of the Saturia Police Station said, the accused also confessed to his crime during primary interrogation.

He has been charged under Pornography and Rape Act, the OC said, adding that the accused is an Oman expatriate who returned to the country recently.

He was produced before the court today and the court sent him to jail.
