Police have arrested two more suspects in the councillor Sohel murder case.

According to the police, Jisan, 28, son of Nur Ali of Suzanagar, was arrested at Panchtubi of Kotwali late Sunday night and Rabbi Islam Antu, 19, son of Badal Mia of Sangraish, Cumilla, was arrested at Debidwer the same night, following a tip-off.

Including the two, six people have so far been arrested in connection with the gruesome murder and five of them have been named in the case filed by Sohel's younger brother Syed Mohammad Rumon.

Rumon accused 11 named and 12 unnamed individuals in the case.

Jisan and Antu were produced before the Cumilla Chief Judicial Magistrate Court with seven-day remand prayers for each yesterday.

Salauddin Al Mahmud, inspector of the court, told The Daily Star that the court was yet to set a date for hearing the prayers.

Masked gunmen shot dead Sohel and his aide Haripada Das in Cumilla's Pathuriapara area on November 22.

Sohel, 48, was also the panel mayor of Cumilla City Corporation and a local Awami League leader.
