2 killed in ‘shootout’ with Rab in Cox’s Bazar

Two alleged robbers were killed in "shootout" with Rab in Chakaria upazila in Cox's Bazar early today.

The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.

The gunfight took place around 4:00am when a team of Rab carried out a raid after a tip-off that a group of robbers gathered at Purba Boro Bhewla area, said Maj Sheikh Yusuf Ahmed, a company commander of Rab-15.

The robbers opened fire at the Rab men, who retaliated, leaving two of them with bullet wounds, he claimed adding others managed to flee. 

The injured were taken to Chakaria Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared them dead, he added.

Three locally made guns, 6 bullets and some sharp weapons were recovered from the spot, Rab claimed.
