2 Japanese children to stay with mother for next 2 days: SC
The Supreme Court today directed Bangladeshi-born US citizen Imran Sharif to hand over his two daughters to the custody of their mother Japanese national Eriko Nakano for the next two days.
The two Japanese children Nakano Jasmine Malika (11) and Nakano Laila Lina (9) came from Japan with their father in February this year.
The Appellate Division of the SC also asked Eriko Nakano to produce the children before it by 9:30 am on December 15.
A five-member bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain passed the order during hearing a petition filed by Eriko challenging a High Court verdict and seeking the children to her custody.
The apex court also set December 15 for resuming the hearing of the petition.
Lawyers Ahsanul Karim accompanied and Mohammad Shishir Manir appeared for Eriko while lawyer Fawzia Karim Firoze argued for Imran.
While delivering a verdict on a petition of Eriko, the HC on November 21 directed that Jasmine and Laila will stay with their father Imran and Eriko can meet them (children) three times a year.
Eriko can meet her daughters for 10 days at a time exclusively while Imran has to bear her travelling and other relevant expenses during these periods, it said.
Besides, Eriko can also meet her children in Bangladesh at any other time at her own expense because she lives in Japan and she is a service holder in her country, the HC said.
