2 get life term for killing 11yr old girl in Sirajganj

A local court today (July 19, 2022) sentenced two people to life term imprisonment for killing an 11-year-old girl at Chhoto Bera Kharua village in Sirajganj's Belkuchi upazila.

Sirajganj District and Sessions Judge's Court Judge Fazle Khoda Md Nazir pronounced the verdict, our Pabna correspondent reports.

The convicts are Saddam Hossain (33) and Akbar Ali (44), a former union member.

According to case statement, the convicts strangled Chaina Khatun, niece of Saddam, on December 25, 2017 over long-standing land dispute with the convict's cousin.

Victim's father filed a case with Belkuchi Police Station. Later, police submitted the charge sheet accusing Saddam Hossain, Akbar Ali and Abul Hashem.

Public Prosecutor Abdur Rahman said the court acquitted Hashem from the charges.

The court, however, fined them Tk 20,000 each. If they fail to pay the fine, they have to serve one year more in prison, he added.
