Detectives arrested two persons in connection with the murder of an informant -- for helping police arrest a drug peddler in Dhaka's Rampura area.

They arrestees are: Rimon alias Limon (23) and his accomplice Asmat Ali (40). Both are residents in Khilgaon area.

A team of detectives of Motijheel Division arrested them from Kamrangirchar area this morning, Mahbub Alam, joint commissioner (DB-South) of DMP, told a press briefing at DMP media centre today.

Rimon on Friday night stabbed police informant Alamgir Hossain (32) in the knees -- leaving his seriously injured as the tendons of both knees were severed.

He was declared death at Dhaka Medical College hospital hours later.

After the killing, Rafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Rampura Police Station, said drug peddler Rimon was arrested based on Alamgir's information. He stabbed Alamgir to death, after coming out of jail on bail, the OC said.
