1 killed, 5 injured as AL factions clash in Narsingdi

A clash between two factions of local Awami League over establishing supremacy today killed at least one person and injured five others.
The deceased, Haider Miah, 28, son of Hanif Miah, was a resident of Chanderkandi village in the upazila, reports our local correspondent.
The clash took place at Raipura village at around 5:00pm this afternoon between the supporters of former Bashgari Union Parishad Chairman Jakir Hossain Ratul and his rival Ashraful Haque.
Mir Mahbab, in-charge of Bashgari police outpost, said following an altercation over establishing supremacy in the area, the two groups attacked each other with sharp weapons, leaving Haider dead on the spot and five others injured.
Satyajit Kumar Ghosh, assistant superintendent of police of Raipura circle, said, additional police personnel were deployed at the spot to fend off any untoward incident.
This correspondent could not reach the two AL leaders responsible for the clash over mobile phone despite repeated attempts.
