1 to die, another gets life term for killing man in Narail
A Narail court has sentenced one person to death and another to life term imprisonment in connection with the murder of Rezaul Mollah on June 27, 2019 in Narail.
District and Sessions Court Judge Munshi Md Moshiar Rahman handed down the verdict this morning.
Both the convicts were also fined Tk 50,000 each, reports our Bagerhat correspondent quoting court sources.
The convicts, Basher Ali, 53, son of Sona Mollah of Kamkul village under Abhaynagar thana in Jashore district was sentenced to death penalty while his younger brother Kamal Mollah, 45, was sentenced to life imprisonment.
According to the case statement, accused Basher Ali used to tease widow Rokeya Begum (43), daughter of Sohrab Mollah of Shimulia village in Narail Sadar upazila.
Rokeya's nephew Rezaul Mollah prohibited Basher Ali to come to their house any longer and not to tease Rokeya.
On June 26, 2019, the accused Bacher Ali and his brother Kamal Mollah dragged Rezaul out of his house and hit him with a bamboo stick.
Later, relatives rescued Rezaul and took him to Narail Sadar Hospital from where he was shifted to Khulna Medical College Hospital. Rezaul succumbed to his injuries the following day while undergoing treatment there, the case document said.
Rezaul's father Rabul Mollah filed a murder case with Narail Sadar Police Station accusing the duo.
After a long hearing, the court today announced the verdict of the murder case.
