Samples of TSP fertilizer from a state-owned fertilizer factory in Chattogram showed signs of adulteration after being tested.

The samples of this chemical fertilizer were tested at the divisional office of the Soil Resources Development Institute in Rajshahi, reports our Bogura correspondent quoting Md Shahidul Islam, chief scientific officer of the institute.

The results of the test showed that the fertilizers are adulterated, the officer told The Daily Star.

He added that these fertilizers have not been properly mixed with chemical ingredients which have appeared to us as adulterated TSP fertilizers as per sub-section (b) of Fertilizer Management Act 2006.

He also said that adulteration in the government TSP fertilizer was never found before this.

Earlier, Bogura Buffer Warehouse did not take 18 trucks of phosphate fertilizer to their warehouse at TSP Complex on suspicion of adulteration.

Earlier on August 28, 2022, Mostafa Kamal, officer-in-charge of Bogura Buffer Warehouse, collected the samples from the trucks and sent them to Rajshahi.

The results of the sample are known today.

A total of 18 trucks (14 tonnes, per truck, 50kg per sack) of TSP fertilizers were sent from the state-owned Phosphate Fertilizer Factory TSP Complex Limited, Chattogram to the Bogura Government Buffer Warehouse on August 28 and 29. But the Bogura Buffer Authority did not take the fertilizer to the warehouse on suspicion of adulteration.

Later, a three-member investigation team came to at the TSP complex in Bogura and collected the samples.
