A youth died and another was injured after a pick-up van hit their motorcycle near Jahangir Gate in Dhaka early today.

Deceased Nayeem Hasan (27), a private service holder, was pillion rider of the bike.

His friend Mehedi Hasan is receiving treatment at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital.

The accident happened around 2:00am as they were heading toward their Dakshinkhan homes from Old Dhaka, said Nayeem's brother-in-law Ataur Rahman, quoting Mehedi.

Nayeem was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him around 2:45am.

Apu Raihan, a sub-inspector of Kafrul Police Station, said they are trying to identify the vehicle.

The body was sent to DMCH morgue for autopsy.
