Union-level AL leader among 2 killed after being hit by trains in Narsingdi
A union level Awami League leader and a child died after being hit by trains in two separate incidents in Narsingdi early today.
One of the deceased was Nesar Ahmed alias Daktar Farid, former president of Chormodhoa Union unit AL. The other one is an unidentified boy, aged around 16, police said.
The child suffered critical injuries after an unidentified train hit him near Narsingdi Railway Station around 3:00am. He died at district Sadar Hospital around 5:30am, said Saiful Islam, in-charge of Narsingdi Railway Police Outpost.
Later, a Dhaka-bound Upaban Express train hit Nesar as he was crossing the rail line at Arshinagar level crossing around 7:00am. He died on the spot, the police official said.
The body of Nesar was handed over to the family without autopsy. Police are trying to identify the child, he added.
